The Facebook Home is currently Android-only software, but both Apple and Facebook are looking to create an android version of the software.
The Facebook Home software is designed to convert Android handsets to ‘Facebook phones’, with a Facebook book home screen and prominent Facebook communications.
The software was designed with the obvious strategy of keeping users engaged with their social media platform for longer and thereby attracting more mobile advertising.
Now Facebook wants to get Apple in on the deal – but Apple’s IOS is much more restrictive.
The news comes form Facebook’s director of product Adam Mosseri who reiterated the fact that the talks are still in progress, “We’ve shown them what we’ve built and we’re just in an ongoing conversation,” he advised. “It may or may not be Home,” he said. “We could also just bring some of the design values to the iOS app. That might be how it ends up. Or we could build just the lock screen. Maybe then it’s not called Home, it’s called something else.”
Applie have yet to comment on the situation.
