Eighteen months ago, an earthquake ravaged Christchurch, New Zealand. For one couple, it struck just an hour after returning from their honeymoon. Not only had their home and possessions been pretty much destroyed, but also the memories of their magical wedding which was stored on a digital camera.
But all was not Lost
This past Wednesday, some 18 years after the earthquake, Martin Burley stumbled across the camera on his driveway.
“You could just see the outline and I thought, ‘What is that?’ Then I looked closer and it was the camera,” he said.
Martin and his wife were long resigned to losing the memories of their big day, but upon stumbling across the camera on their driveway, they still had hope. “I thought even though it was dead as a camera, maybe I can get the memory card out of it,” Burley said.
Once they plugged the memory card into their PC and did a little tinkering, they managed to recover all 2.5 gigabytes of photograph’s.
